Why You Need Shoe Orthotics For Your Profane Feet

By Allyson Whitley

Shoe orthotics has been a major help in the field of podiatric treatment. The orthotics act as a special padding inserted in the shoe and is designed to correct biomechanics problems on the feet. Because of their success, the medical shoe inserts have been widely applied in the field of sports where foot injuries are a common thing.

How does one determine whether they need the foot inserts? The first possible condition where these inserts can be used is when treating pronated feet; a condition where the foot collapses inwards when running. This is common especially in athletes or those people who love taking their morning jogs in trainers.

As the foot collapses inwards the knees rotate in an inward motion as well which puts stress on the lower limb and may result in stress fractures. On the other hand, if you take a long walk to work every day, chances are you may suffer from pronated feet as well. Feet orthotic treatment is handy where a lot of stress is put on the foot especially in running, jogging or long distance walks every day.

We have so many trainers and running shoes manufactured and all claim to have the right protection to foot injury. However experts tell us that this is not the case and only one out of several trainers have sufficient insole padding, this means we may develop painful aches around the ankles after jogging or walking to work, which may warrant us to go for the medical inserts after all.

Today you can purchase the inserts from over the counter shops without the need for a doctors prescription. However it is first good to check with a podiatrist to examine your foot and determine all you need is an extra inner padding. Sometimes the problem may be internal and a surgery required; but if not then feet padding are all you need.

As you purchase the medical foot inserts, it is important to first see if they fit you and whether you are comfortable walking in them. If your footware is heeled or thick soled, then a foot insert will be crucial here; the shoes depth is of importance as well if you are to wear the padding without problems. If the padding is wider than the shoe itself, one is always welcome to trim it a bit using your insole as a guiding template.

If the insole medical inserts still do not fit into the shoes, you may require removing the insole to fit better. But as you buy the padding, always aim for shoes with high depth for it to fit perfectly. If your shoes have laces, buckles, straps or tunable hooks, you can easily adjust the shoe to fit with the padding.

You can buy foot padding from retail sports or shoe stores where they are referred to as arch supports. You can also get the foot supports from a pharmacy or an online store where you can sample various products. Whichever shoe orthotics you buy, be certain that it will feet, be comfortable and will take care of the stress fracture problems.
